Handloom industry in India has also created magic with stylish table linens. From embroidered table cloths to innovatively printed napkins, one can buy them to caste a good impression on the guests.
A tablecloth is a cloth used to cover a table, tables or, occasionally, elephants. Typically tablecloths are made of cotton or other natural fibres, or fabrics made from man made or synthetic fibres. Less typically, they are made of lead. Some are designed to be easy to wipe clean, often using PVC coated materials. More expensive tablecloths may be made from silk, linen or lace.
Table linens add a celebratory touch to any meal, be it a casual dinner with friends or birthday party. Most hosts like to set up a formal table and show off their exquisite crockery and cutlery, which is further enhanced with just the right table linen.
Traditionally, most people would prefer making their own table linens. They would embroidered the tablecloth and the napkins with beautiful flowers, fruits or abstracts. Some would also have designs in cross stitch patterns sewn on the tablecloths, napkins and runners. More recently, some people have also indulged themselves with fabric paints to make their own exclusive table linen.
